ANOTHER BATCH OF COUNTERFEIT LIPITOR FOUND IN THE UK
A new batch of counterfeit Lipitor (atorvastatin) was found on the market in the United Kingdom, according to Health Canada. The counterfeit drug has a lot number of 067404K-3 with an expiration date of May 2007 and is sold in a pack size of 28 tablets.
Previous announcements were made by British and Canadian health officials about the presence of counterfeit Lipitor in the drug supply in late July and again in early August.
Health authorities in the UK said initial test results indicate that the counterfeit Lipitor does not pose an immediate risk to patients.
Consumers are urged to consult with their pharmacist or
physician if they have experienced any adverse effects from taking Lipitor tablets.
Health Canada also encourages healthcare professionals and consumers to report
any suspected adverse reactions associated with the use of the product.
