WOCKHARDT RECEIVES FDA APPROVAL FOR GENERIC CEFOTAXIME

Wockhardt has received approval from the FDA for cefotaxime sodium injection, 1 g. This is the company's second approval for sterile cephalosporins, and its sixth approval in the last eight months.
Cefotaxime sodium is the generic version of sanofi-aventis' Claforan Injection, a broad-spectrum antibiotic used in treating a wide variety of infections. Cefotaxime sodium is manufactured at the FDA-certified active pharmaceutical ingredient facility at Ankleshwar, India, and the injection is manufactured at the sterile formulation plant at Waluj, India.
Wockhardt will launch the product in the U.S. market within the next few weeks.
