ICAHN SAYS HE WAS NOT URGED TO SUPPORT IMCLONE BID
Wednesday evening, billionaire investor Carl Icahn said he believed that Imclone Systems Inc., a biopharmaceutical company in which Icahn has 11% stake, was worth more than $36 a share if it was run by competent people, including competent high-level management supervised by a competent Board of Directors. Earlier the company filed a statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission intimating that it turned down a $36 per share bid for the company as a result of Icahn opposing it. The company's stock closed the day's regular trade 7.95% higher.
