ABBOTT SUES TAP PARTNER IN PREVACID PRICING DISPUTE
July 1, 2005
In a sign of growing tension between the two corporate owners of a Lake Forest drugmaker, Abbott Laboratories is accusing its Japanese partner of charging excessive prices for ingredients used to make a blockbuster heartburn drug. Abbott, which co-owns TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc. with Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., filed suit in U.S. District Court in Chicago Tuesday, accusing Japan's largest drugmaker of charging too much for the bulk ingredients used to make Prevacid, one of the nation's top-selling prescription heartburn drugs.
