PHARMA INDUSTRY UP IN ARMS AGAINST GOVT. PROPOSAL TO DROP BRANDS
The pharmaceutical industry at large has vehemently opposed the proposed recommendation by the task force on drug affordability that medicines should be prescribed by their generic names. The task force mooted the proposal to help consumers and give them freedom to choose the most inexpensive alternative among the burgeoning brands. The task force on drug affordability has been set up at the behest of the Prime Minister's Office to look into affordability and access issues regarding medicines.
