DAR BUSINESS MAY SUE KENYA OVER CUSTOMS BREACH
Tanzania's business community threatened today to sue Kenya for breaking the rules of a customs union reached earlier this year, after Finance minister David Mwiraria zero-rated imports of pharmaceutical products. The East Africa Community (EAC), made up of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, set a common external tariff (CET) in January 2005 with bands of 25 per cent on finished goods, 10 per cent for semi-processed goods and zero for raw materials.
