FDA Offers Bar Code Q&A Guidance
October 24, 2006
The FDA recently issued Q&A guidance to help regulated firms determine how to better understand and meet the agency’s requirements for certain human drug and biologic products to have bar codes with a minimum of a National Drug Code number.
Among other topics, the guidance covers who is subject to the bar code rule, who is exempt and why, the various implementation dates, and issues around the appearance and placement of the bar code.
The guidance can be accessed at www.fda.gov/cder/guidance/BARcodeQsAsfnl10-05-06.pdf.
