BOSTON SCIENTIFIC ANNOUNCES FRENCH APPROVAL OF TAXUS STENT
February 16, 2006
Boston Scientific announced that it has received French approval for its Taxus Liberte coronary stent system. The device will be available to patients with coronary artery disease treated in private and public hospitals throughout France.
The device consists of tiny wire mesh tubes expanded inside plaque-congested arteries with a balloon to act as a scaffold to keep the blood vessel open. The coating helps prevent the artery from reclogging by keeping tissue from growing through the mesh. The Liberte is not currently approved in the U.S.
