Industry: More Work Needed on Late Payment Directive

Government entities in the EU that don’t pay their bills on time could be partly responsible for bankrupting many small device manufacturers, industry association Eucomed says. The group had welcomed a revision of Directive 2000/35/EC related to late payments, which was adopted by the European Commission last month. But it was disappointed when the final document was “considerably watered down compared to initial clear targets,” Eucomed says in a statement. The group had supported a requirement for public entities to pay their bills within 30 days.
