Stronger Acetaminophen Warnings Recommended by FDA Group

OTC and prescription drugs containing acetaminophen should carry much stronger warnings about liver toxicity and other dangers, including a boxed warning for healthcare professionals on prescription product labeling. The FDA’s Acetaminophen Hepatotoxicity Working Group makes the recommendation in a background report prepared for a June 29–30 meeting of the Drug Safety and Risk Management, Anesthetic and Life Support Drugs and Nonprescription Drugs advisory committees.
