White House: Sequestration Would Delay Drug Approvals, Senate to Hold Meeting on Impact

The White House Friday said the FDA’s drug approvals would slow if across the board spending cuts known as sequestration take effect March 1. The White House characterized FDA impacts as one of “the most damaging effects” of the spending cuts. CDER would face delays in translating new science and technology into regulatory policy and decisionmaking, which would lead to the delay in drug approvals.
