FDA Misses UDI Final Rule Deadline; Hamburg Asked for Update

The FDA’s failure to release a final rule on unique device identification by last week’s deadline could delay efforts by other branches of government to put UDIs into use, according to lawmakers. Last summer’s FDA Safety and Innovation Act (FDASIA) mandates the release of the final rule six months following the close of the comment period on the proposed rule.
