UHP Launches HemoStrip Hemostatic Bandages

January 15, 2015

United Health Products on Thursday rolled out its HemoStrip hemostatic adhesive bandages nationwide. The bandages use the company’s proprietary HemoStyp gauze, which interacts with blood to reduce clotting times and encourage healing.

The FDA-registered, bioabsorbable gauze is produced from cellulose, which promotes hemostasis almost instantly when applied to a cut or wound, according to the Henderson, Nev., devicemaker. Tests showed bleeding to be quickly and effectively controlled when applied with slight pressure, UHP added.

Initial retail efforts will concentrate on pharmacy and grocery chains. CEO Douglas Beplate said orders will be delivered 45 days after final retail packaging is approved.

UHP estimates the U.S. market for bandages is about $3 billion annually. — Kellen Owings
