Intralytix Receives FDA Clearance for Phage-Based Shigella Technology
April 7, 2017
Baltimore–based Intralytix has received FDA marketing clearance for ShigaShield, an antimicrobial preparation for controlling the foodborne/waterborne bacterial pathogen Shigella.
The company already has three approved phage-based products on the market: the ListShield, EcoShield and SalmoFresh.
The active ingredients of ShigaShield are bacteriophages that selectively kill Shigella species, including strains belonging to the species of Shigella: S. flexneri, S. sonnei and S. dysenteriae. — Cynthia Jessup
