Senators Ask White House for Update on Opioid Commission Recommendations
April 11, 2018
Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.) prodded the White House to say what it’s doing to implement the 56 recommendations issued in November by the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis.
The senators also asked the White House to say who within the executive branch is responsible for overseeing the federal response to the crisis and implementing the commission’s recommendations.
Warren and Murray said they are concerned by “reports that in spite of the opioid epidemic's devastating impact on American communities, your Administration has failed to act aggressively to combat it,” in an April 9 letter.
