Dutch Government Supports Minimum Requirements for Internet-Connected Devices

The Dutch state secretary announced that the Dutch government has given its support for introducing minimum requirements for internet-connected equipment (IoT) via the CE Mark.

The secretary referred to the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), which provides CE Mark requirements for devices with radio capabilities, with regulations thus far dealing with operational safety, interference prevention and interference sensitivity.

The government is currently working with the European Commission to examine how to extend current CE mark RED requirements to minimum requirements for the digital safety of wireless devices.
