PhRMA Spends Record $27.5 Million on Lobbying
January 31, 2019
PhRMA spent a record $27.5 million on lobbying in 2018, surpassing a previous record in 2009, when it spent just over $25 million.
Major issues that prompted the expenditures last year included lobbying against proposals to import cheaper foreign drugs and Patent Trial and Appeal Board procedures.
PhRMA’s members include more than three dozen leading drugmakers — most recently Gilead Sciences and Genentech, who joined last month.
