Gottlieb Joins Board of Real-World Evidence Startup

Former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb has joined another company’s board of directors, this time a New York City-based real-world evidence (RWE) startup, Aetion, where he will serve in an advisory role.

“The widespread adoption of RWE to the development and application of new treatments will improve the precision of prescribing decisions and help make drug discovery far more efficient,” said Gottlieb, who joined Pfizer’s board and two policy institutes after his departure from the agency.

Aetion CEO Carolyn Magill called Gottlieb “a real-world evidence advocate and standard-setter” and “an ideal partner” in the company’s “work to help define RWE's role in the development, delivery, and payment of treatments.”
