Soligenix Nabs Fast Track Status for RiVax

The FDA granted fast track designation for Soligenix’s RiVax (heat stable ricin toxin vaccine) to prevent ricin poisoning.

Ricin toxin is a lethal plant-derived toxin that comes in powder, mist, or pellet forms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the lethal dose in humans is about the size of a grain of salt.

The company received funding for RiVax from the FDA and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
