Hahn Quizzed on Drug Supply Chain
March 18, 2020
Leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee asked FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn how the agency intends to weigh priorities for the notification of shortages while protecting commercial information as the coronavirus continues to spread.
The agency disclosed the first drug shortage related to COVID-19 in late February but did not name the product. In a letter sent to Hahn, the lawmakers asked how many alternatives are available for the drug and whether those could be impacted by the outbreak.
The representatives also asked for more information on how the agency is tracking potential shortages.
