CryoLife Buys Up Ascyrus Medical, Aortic-Arch Remodeling Device in $200 Million Deal

CryoLife has acquired Ascyrus Medical in a deal worth up to $200 million, securing access to the German firm’s aortic-arch remodeling system.

The agreement nets CryoLife the Ascyrus Medical Dissection Stent (AMDS), the world’s first aortic-arch remodeling device for treating acute type A aortic dissections.

The device allows for rapid deployment of the graft during replacement of the ascending aorta, adding less than five minutes to the procedure. The stent  preserves the arch, potentially enabling  minimally invasive surgeries instead of an invasive arch repair.
