Boston Scientific Gets FDA Approval for Deep Brain Stimulation System
January 25, 2021
Boston Scientific has received FDA approval for the latest version of its Vercise Genus deep- brain simulation system for relief of Parkinson’s disease symptoms.
The system treats the symptoms of the incurable disease by delivering targeted electrical stimulation via surgically implanted leads. The updated product includes a magnetic resonance-compatible nonrechargeable implanted pulse generator.
The Marlborough, Mass.-based company launched the updated system in Europe in September 2020 and says it will launch it in the U.S. in the coming months.
