Grifols Earns CE Marks for HIV/Hepatitis and Babesia Parasite Blood Tests
March 29, 2021
Grifols has received CE mark certifications for its Procleix UltrioPlex E and Procleix Babesia assays.
The Procleix UltrioPlex E, a nucleic acid test, uses a single sample of serum or plasma to simultaneously detect the presence of HIV-1, HIV-2, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and hepatitis E. The Procleix Babesia Assay detects Babesia, a tick-borne parasite that can be spread through blood transfusions, using a whole blood specimen.
The tests will soon become available in European markets, enabling blood banks to improve the safety of transfusions, the company said.
