Alma Gains 510(k) Clearance for Laser Skin Resurfacing System

July 21, 2021

Alma has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Alma Hybrid laser platform for skin resurfacing.

The system features an ablative 10,600 nanometer laser that removes the thin outer layer of skin and a nonablative 1,570 nanometer laser that improves the appearance of wrinkles, brown spots and minor scars. Physicians can use each laser independently or customize the treatment pattern by combining both wavelengths.

Use of the ablative laser followed by the nonablative laser in a random pattern significantly reduces treatment time and improves patient experience, the company said.
