Medtronic Cardiac Monitor Software Cleared

July 29, 2021

Medtronic has received FDA clearance for two pieces of software for use with its LINQ II insertable cardiac monitor.

The two cloud-based AccuRhythm artificial intelligence-based algorithms analyze heart rhythm event data collected by the LINQ II monitor, to help physicians diagnose and treat abnormal heart rhythms.

The algorithms address the two most common false alerts generated by insertable cardiac monitors, atrial fibrillation (AF) and asystole — a long pause between heartbeats.

According to the company, the AF algorithm reduced false atrial fibrillation alerts by 74.1 percent and preserved 99.3 percent of true alerts, while the Pause algorithm reduced false pause alerts by 97.4 percent and preserved 100 percent of true pause alerts.
