Ex-Roche Employee Sentenced to Prison for Cheating the Drugmaker Out of Nearly $10 Million

August 11, 2021

A former Roche employee was sentenced to 39 months in prison by a Swiss court for defrauding the company after finding him guilty of defrauding the drugmaker out of almost $10 million.

The defendant and an accomplice pleaded guilty to commercial fraud, document forgery and commercial money laundering, after being charged with embezzling the funds from January through August 2017.

The two defendants were also ordered to pay $11.6 million plus interest to Roche, but it’s not clear whether they can pay the total amount.
