FDA Amends EUA to Permit Pfizer Booster Jabs in 16-, 17-Year Olds

The FDA has revised Pfizer/BioNTech’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), allowing a booster of the companies’ COVID-19 vaccine in teenagers age 16 and 17 years old six months after completion of a primary vaccination series.

And the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued recommendations for use, paving the way for the additional shots to be administered right away.

“Although we don’t have all the answers on the Omicron variant, initial data suggest that COVID-19 boosters help broaden and strengthen the protection against Omicron and other variants,” said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.

The CDC is encouraging all people age 16 and older to get a booster shot.
