Carestream’s Smart Noise Cancellation Gets FDA’s 510(k) Clearance
February 11, 2022
Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream Health has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Smart Noise Cancellation (SNC) technology that reduces the dose of radiation needed for medical imaging.
SNC is an optional feature of the company’s ImageView software. The artificial intelligence-based system provides a better contrast-to-noise ratio for x-ray images, allowing users to reduce the radiation dose without losing image quality.
The improved ability to optimize radiation dose will be “especially valuable in neonatal and pediatric diagnostic imaging, where imaging at the lowest possible dose is crucial for young patients,” the company said.
