UFP Buys Advant Medical, Expanding Catheter and Guidewire Lines

Newburyport, Mass.-based UFP Technologies has expanded its portfolio of catheter and guidewire products by purchasing Advant Medical, a developer and manufacturer of Class I, II and III medical devices.

Advant Medical, which is headquartered in Galway, Ireland, has operations in Costa Rica and partner manufacturing in Mexico.

The purchase, which follows UFP’s recent acquisition of another device manufacturer, Contech Medical in Providence, R.I., further strengthens the company’s “position in the growing catheter and guidewire packaging space,” said R. Jeffrey Bailly, UFP’s chairman and CEO.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
