Penumbra Gets CE Mark for its Indigo Aspiration System

Alameda, Calif.-based Penumbra’s Indigo blood clot aspiration system with Lightning 7 and Lightning 12 tubes has received CE mark certification.

The system, which is designed for single-session arterial and venous thrombus removal, including the treatment of pulmonary embolisms, is indicated for the removal of fresh, soft emboli and thrombi from the peripheral arterial and venous systems.

The system allows users to remove blood clots quickly while minimizing blood loss and potentially reducing the need for thrombolytics and prolonged intensive care unit stays, the company said.
