Endo to Settle San Francisco Opioid Suit for $10 Million

Endo Pharmaceuticals has agreed to a $10 million settlement with the city of San Francisco over the company’s alleged role in fueling the city’s opioid epidemic.

The company, which manufactures the opioid painkiller Percocet (oxycodone and acetaminophen), has agreed to pay $5 million upfront and another $5 million over 10 years.

San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu charged that Endo contributed to the crisis by making false statements and by “misleading doctors and patients about the risks of opioids.”

The remaining defendants in the case are Teva Pharmaceuticals, Allergan and Walgreens. Their trial is scheduled to go ahead on April 25.
