Amazon’s PillPack to Pay U.S. Government Over $5.6 Million In Excess Billing for Insulin

May 6, 2022

Amazon subsidiary PillPack has agreed to pay more than $5.6 million to settle complaints of alleged fraud over reimbursements it received for its insulin pen from government healthcare organizations, including Medicare and Medicaid.

The government alleged that from April 2014 through November 2019, PillPack underreported the number of days dosing the insulin pens supplied, which led to patients getting more insulin pens than they needed.

Under the settlement filed April 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, PillPack agreed to pay the settlement amount plus interest within 14 business days.
