FDA Clears Lorals for Protection Underwear Against STIs

May 16, 2022

The FDA has granted 510(k) clearance to Lorals for Protection, ultra-thin latex panties that are intended to protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Los Angeles, Calif.-based Lorals says the vanilla-flavored latex, which is as thin as a condom,  provides wearable STI protection for safer oral sex.

The FDA has placed the underwear into its medium-risk regulatory category, Class II (Special Controls). The single-use underwear undergoes testing to ensure it meets the FDA’s standards for STI protection during oral-vaginal and oral-anal sex, the company said.
