New York State Senate Passes Two Bills Curbing Drug Prices

May 26, 2022

The New York State Senate passed two bills that would implement drug cost-saving measures throughout the state.

One bill, S.1413, would reduce the cap on insulin monthly costs from $100 to $30 a month, while another, S. 7499B, would require manufacturers to provide at least a 60-day notice of the intent to raise wholesale prescription drug costs if the planned increase is 10 percent or more of the existing price.

“We are holding pharmaceutical companies accountable, and working with them to offer more affordable medication,” said New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D).
