Xact Robotics Gets FDA Clearance for Its Ace Robotic System for Ablation Procedures

June 1, 2022

Xact Robotics’ Xact Ace robotic system for interventional radiology has received FDA clearance for a modification designed to support robotic insertion and steering of ablation probes during ablation clinical procedures.

The system combines image-based procedure planning and real-time monitoring with hands-free precise robotic insertion and steering to deliver instruments to a desired target in the body.

Xact Ace has been shown to deliver 1.7-millimeter average accuracy upon first insertion, with a less than 8.5-minute average skin-to-target time, the Hingham, Mass.-based company said.

The FDA previously cleared the robotic device for use in computerized tomography-guided percutaneous procedures.
