Gradientech's QuickMIC Diagnostic System Gets CE-IVD approval

June 10, 2022

Uppsala, Sweden-based Gradientech has received a CE-IVD mark for its first diagnostic product, QuickMIC, and a test panel for assessing sepsis patients for antibiotic susceptibility.

The test panel can rapidly identify the appropriate antibiotics and the best dose for treatment of infections by Gram-negative bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli.

The susceptibility test exposes the bacteria to antibiotic concentrations and then follows the bacterial growth in real-time, delivering results in two to four hours.

The QuickMIC system determines if the bacteria are either susceptible or resistant to an antibiotic and then calculates the lowest antibiotic concentration that inhibits bacterial growth.
