Big Health’s Sleepio App for Insomnia Gains NICE Recommendation

June 17, 2022

The U.K. National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is recommending Big Health’s Sleepio software application for treatment for insomnia, for National Health Service (NHS) use as an alternative to sleeping pills.

The Sleepio app uses an artificial intelligence algorithm to provide people with tailored digital cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia.

NICE said the app can save money for the NHS as well as reduce prescribing of medicines such as zolpidem and zopiclone that can be dependency forming.

Up to 800,000 people in England could benefit from using Sleepio, NICE said.
