Wacker Chemie to Expand Site to Include mRNA Manufacturing

Munich, Germany-based Wacker Biotech is expanding its production to include messenger RNA (mRNA) manufacturing.

In addition to MRNA vaccines, the planned $100 million expansion will also include mRNA technology to produce potential treatment options in new areas, including for cancer.

The expansion of the facility in Halle, which is in east-central Germany, “will create capacity to prepare for pandemics and beyond,” the company said.
