Pharma Group Proposes to Improve Access to Medical Products During Pandemics

The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA) has launched an initiative it calls the “Berlin Declaration” aimed at more equitable access to vaccines, treatments and diagnostics for future pandemics.

IFPMA says the proposal aims to ensure the supply of necessary pandemic-related products as early as possible for priority populations in lower-income countries at an affordable price.

Based in Geneva, IFPMA has official relations with the United Nations and its mission is to contribute industry expertise to help the global health community.

The association said it plans to discuss its new proposal with members of the G7 and G20 intergovernmental forums, as well as multilateral organizations and other decisionmakers.
