FDA Schedules Symposium on Illicit FDA-Regulated Products

The FDA has scheduled a two-day international symposium in Paris, France on Sept. 15-16 to discuss ways to combat illicit FDA-regulated products.

This symposium is a continuation of Operation Lascar, a project launched in 2017 by the FDA and UK agencies.

“Over the last 5 years, Operation Lascar has been responsible for the initiation of more than 80 new FDA criminal investigations and identified more than 3,000 violative shipments of illicit medicines intended for the U.S.,” the FDA said.

So far, five criminal investigations have occurred under the project.
