GE Healthcare’s AIR Recon DL Cleared

October 3, 2022

GE Healthcare has received expanded 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its AIR Recon Deep-learning software for improving the quality of magnetic resonance image (MRI) scans.

The algorithm now works with 3D imaging sequences as well as with Propeller sequencing — a technique used to correct inconsistencies in images caused by motion during MRI exams.

It is especially useful for pediatric, neurodegenerative, geriatric and claustrophobic patients who have difficulty remaining physically still for the duration of an MRI scan, the company said.

The AIR Recon DL software and the recent extensions are now available on the company’s new new MRI scanners. They are also available as an upgrade for most of the GE Healthcare’s installed 1.5T and 3.0T MRI systems.
