Another Recall for Philips Ventilators — With Reports of 10 Injuries, 7 Deaths

June 6, 2024

Philips Respironics has recalled several of its BiPap machines after 888 complaints of a potential malfunction of the device’s inoperative alarm which can cause the ventilator to shut down.

Over a 12 year period — 2011 and 2023 — the company said it received ten reports alleging serious injury, and seven reports of patient death potentially associated with this issue.

The company sent a field safety notice in March 2024, with an update in May 2024, notifying of a potential issue that could affect 100,000 units of the BIPAP A30, BIPAP A40, BIPAP V30, and OmniLab Advanced Plus ventilators.
