ST. JUDE MEDICAL, BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SETTLE PATENT LITIGATION

St. Jude Medical and Boston Scientific have entered into an agreement that resolves four previously disclosed patent cases, the firms announced July 31 in a joint statement posted on the St. Jude website.

Under the settlement, the firms have also agreed to limit how two previously disclosed patent cases that have not yet been resolved will be pursued, the statement says.

Further, the firms noted they have agreed to a patent cross license involving their cardiac rhythm management patent portfolios and a separate cross license of patents held by their affiliates related to neuromodulation -- wherein implanted devices are used to alter activity in the central, peripheral or autonomic nervous systems.
