BIOPHAN LICENSOR ISSUES PATENT ON NANOMAGNETIC COATINGS

Biophan Technologies recently announced the issuance of a patent covering nanomagnetic coatings on medical devices.

Nanomagnetic coatings can be used for controlled drug release, imaging of devices such as stents and catheters under MRI and generating heat for anti-cancer treatments, according to the firm.

The patent covers the placement of nanomagnetic coatings on medical devices exposed to biological tissues. While other Biophan patents cover the applications listed, this patent applies to the use of a nanomagnetic coating on a medical device within certain parameters, the company said.
