SWISS SCIENTISTS QUESTION USE OF DRUG ELUTING STENTS

Cordis' Cypher and Boston Scientific's Taxus are the leading makers of drug eluting stent devices. Cordis is a unit of healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson (JNJ). A spokesman for Boston Scientific said Sunday that the data presented are consistent with randomized, controlled trials showing that the Taxus stent is safe and effective without an increase in deaths or heart attacks compared with metal stents.
