BAXTER RECALLS CRYOCYTE FREEZING CONTAINERS FOR CRACKING

September 7, 2006

Baxter Healthcare is conducting a lot-specific recall of its 500-mL Cryocyte freezing containers. The recall follows an "increased number of customer complaints for cracks or breakages found in the containers during the thawing process," the company said.

Because of the chance that these cracks and breaks might result in an unsterile product, the firm has informed all customers who received this lot of the recall. The firm said that no adverse events have been associated with this issue, and the overall number of reported breakages is about 0.4 percent for the lot.
