BARR PHARMACEUTICAL TO MAKE GENERIC VERSION OF ITS SEASONALE

A unit of Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. plans to make a generic version of its own contraceptive Seasonale after the Food and Drug Administration gave another company permission to manufacture a generic brand of the drug. Barr Pharmaceuticals, Woodcliff Lake, N.J., said its Barr Laboratories Inc. unit will make a generic version of the extended-cycle oral contraceptive with the trade name Jolessa.
