U.S. BIOSHIELD MIRED BY RIVALS' LOBBYING

The U.S. Bioshield program to protect citizens from a biological attack with drugs is being hobbled by drug companies' lobbying, The New York Times reports. The $5.6 billion effort was launched in 2001 after letters containing anthrax were sent to addresses in Florida, New York and Washington, and five people died.
