FDA PANEL TO MULL SAFETY CONCERNS WITH BAYER BLOOD DRUG

A Food and Drug Administration panel will discuss on Thursday safety concerns with a Bayer Pharmaceuticals drug that's used to control bleeding in patients undergoing heart bypass surgery. Earlier this year the agency issued a public health advisory involving the drug, sold under the brand name Trasylol, after two published studies suggested the drug might double the risk of kidney failure.
