BARR PHARMACEUTICALS APPROVES CHANGE IN FISCAL YEAR

The Board of Directors of Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc. approved a change in the company's fiscal year from June 30 to December 31, effective immediately. The company will file a transition report on Form 10-K for the six-month period ending December 31, 2006. Prior to filing the transition report, the company will file its quarterly report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ending September 30, 2006.
